Privacy policy - My Recipe Saga

1. Who is responsible

Friday Webs is responsible for processing your data through My Recipe Saga. You can contact us at info@fridaywebs.com.

2. Which data we use

Account: your email address and password (stored securely hashed, so we cannot read it)
Profile: your name, username, profile photo, banner, bio, location and language, to the extent you provide them
What you post: recipes, photos, collections, who you follow, what you save and which recipes you like
Notifications: who follows you or likes your recipes
Technical data: your IP address and browser details in server logs, and the time when you were last active

3. Why we use it and the legal basis

To provide the service: your account, your profile, and storing and displaying your recipes, based on the performance of the contract
To send you emails needed for your account, such as confirming your email address and resetting your password, based on the performance of the contract
To keep the service secure and prevent misuse, based on our legitimate interest
To provide smart features, such as translation and estimating nutritional values, based on the performance of the contract

We do not send newsletters or advertising without your consent.

4. Who we share data with

We work with a few carefully selected service providers that process your data only on our behalf:

Supabase: database, login and photo storage
Vercel: website hosting
OpenAI: for the smart features. Only the content needed for that purpose is sent to OpenAI: the text or photos of a recipe that you are importing, and the recipe content for translations, nutritional values, allergens and recipe photos. Under OpenAI’s terms, this data is not used to train their models.
Resend: sending emails about your account

Some of these parties are located in the United States. Where applicable, transfers are based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission.

We only share your data with others if required to do so by law.

5. What is public

Your username, profile, and public recipes and collections are visible to everyone and may appear in search engines. What you save, your email address and your private recipes are not public.

6. How long we retain data

We retain your data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete your profile, recipes and photos within 30 days. We retain server logs for a short period, only for security and troubleshooting purposes.

7. Cookies and local storage

We only use functional cookies that are necessary for the site to work:

a session cookie to keep you logged in
a cookie that remembers your language choice
a one-hour cookie to keep track of when you were active

We also remember in your browser which ingredients and steps you have checked off. We do not use tracking, analytics or advertising cookies, and we load fonts from our own server. Therefore, we do not ask for consent to use cookies.

8. Security

We protect your data using encrypted connections (https), encrypted passwords and access rules in the database, so that you can only access your own non-public data. If you notice anything unusual, please let us know.

9. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to receive a copy of it (data portability), and to object to or request a restriction of its use. You can change many things yourself in your profile. For anything else, email info@fridaywebs.com; we will respond within one month.

If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl) or the data protection authority in your own country.

10. Children

My Recipe Saga is intended for people aged 13 and over. If you are under 16, you need permission from a parent or guardian. If you think a child has created an account without permission, please email us.

11. Changes

We may amend this privacy policy. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. We will notify you of important changes.
