1 kg waxy potatoes
1¼ cups whole milk
1¼ cups double cream
1 tbsp mustard
1 clove garlic
1 nutmeg pinch
1 unsalted butter for greasing
100 g grated Comté
1 salt and pepper to taste
Method
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- Cut the potatoes into thin slices, about the thickness of a euro coin.
- Gently bring the potatoes, cream, milk, a generous pinch of salt and pepper, and mustard to the boil in a saucepan. Cook everything for 10 minutes.
- Cut a garlic clove in half. Rub it all over the oven dish. Then grease the dish with butter.
- Pour the potato mixture into the oven dish. Finish with (freshly grated) nutmeg.
- Sprinkle the grated Comté over the potatoes. Place the oven dish in the oven for 40 minutes at 200 °C.
